Repair ultraviolet radiation and photoaging damage

Intense Pulsed Light Therapy

Ultraviolet rays from repeated sun exposure can discolor skin cells and cause premature aging. IPL Photo Rejuvenation treatment, also known as a Photofacial, can help improve the appearance of hyperpigmentation, rosacea, freckles, broken capillaries, port wine stains, and varicose and spider veins. It can even improve the overall texture of your skin. At Sculpt Aesthetics & Wellness, the Rohrer IPL utilizes a wavelength of light that repairs skin damage caused by UV light.

How Does Intense Pulsed Light (IPL) Work?

Age spots, liver spots, and other blemishes are little more than millions of discolored skin cells. Sunlight causes hyperpigmentation—a reaction in your naturally occurring skin pigment (melanin). These darker skin cells absorb light and heat at higher rates than surrounding skin, allowing IPL (intense pulsed light) to scatter blemishes while leaving surrounding skin unharmed. The heat from IPL photofacials penetrates into lower skin layers, creating a localized flood of collagen. Collagen tightens skin, smoothes wrinkles, and improves sun damage or lingering scars. It can even close surface veins to combat blushing, flushing, or redness.

With minimal to no downtime, quick appointments, and long-lasting or even permanent results, this comfortable, non-invasive facial rejuvenation technique reverses numerous signs of aging.

Photofacial FAQs

Most patients notice IPL photofacial results within a week of their most recent appointment. Full benefits may take four to six weeks depending on the number of treatments required to achieve your desired results.

IPL photofacials are safe, comfortable, quick, and effective. You may experience a minor sensation of heat, but topical solutions can be applied in the event of discomfort.

IPL photofacials can permanently destroy blemishes, age spots, and liver spots. However, the treatment cannot prevent the development of new blemishes. Frequent sun exposure could create new discolored spots. To maximize results, we recommend wearing sunscreen with SPF 30 or higher if you plan to be out in the sun for longer than a few minutes at a time.
